Luftwaffe Greatcoat
Greatcoats came into widespread use and popularity during the 1930s, particularly in continental Europe. Think of darkly martial music, gigantic military parades, and Absolute Power, close your eyes...and from the depths of your unconscious will float up images of German Nazi and Soviet Russian officials looking imposing, taking the salute, wearing some of the most fantastic and extravagant greatcoats ever made. Some were leather, others textile. All of these over-the-top overcoats projected the unmistakable message of power. Variants still exist and they all share the common theme of ostentation and power. Generously cut, the Vanson Luftwaffe coat is 46 inches in length, bringing the bottom of the coat to just above the knee, with a 57-inch bottom hem circumference when the front of the coat closed. It is engineered for freedom of movement with a built-in action back. The waist is slightly fitted and has a full 2”- wide belt to cinch in the coat. The shawl - style collar is 100% mouton, real sheepskin with the hair treated for an even, plush, sleek look.
By any measure, the Vanson LUFT GREATCOAT is imposing. Hand built rather than simply sewn is the best way to describe this great coat. Impressive.
